Why an RD Calculator Projection May Differ From Actual Maturity
Why deposit dates, product terms, missed installments and other events can make actual RD maturity differ from a generic calculator estimate.

The calculator standardizes inputs; an actual RD follows its terms
The RD Calculator estimates maturity using a fixed monthly contribution, one constant entered annual rate, beginning-of-month deposits, a whole-year tenure and a generic monthly-equivalent rate treatment. An actual RD follows deposit dates and the institution-specific contractual terms that apply to it.
A difference does not by itself mean the engine is incorrect. It can mean the calculator assumptions and actual account events were different.
Start with the same controlled inputs
For ₹10,000 monthly, an illustrative entered 7% annual rate and three years, the engine models 36 deposits totaling ₹3,60,000.00. It estimates interest of ₹41,630.26 and maturity of ₹4,01,630.26 under its beginning-of-month constant-rate convention.
The 7% rate is an illustrative assumption, not a current, market, typical, best or prevailing RD rate. Compare an actual account only after aligning the deposit, rate, tenure and timing inputs.
Actual deposit dates and payment events can differ
Deposits made on different dates may receive different treatment from the calculator's beginning-of-month convention. Missed or late installments can also affect an actual account according to its terms.
The calculator does not model missed installments, late installments or penalties. This article does not calculate or assert any universal or bank-specific penalty.
Product rules can change the eventual outcome
An institution may apply its own rate rules, interest-crediting method, contribution timing, rounding convention and other contractual conditions. The calculator uses one generic convention and does not reproduce those product-specific rules.
Premature closure can change actual proceeds according to the applicable terms, but the calculator does not model premature closure, closure penalties or revised maturity. Variable interest rates are also outside the model.
Tax, TDS and current rates remain outside the projection
The calculator does not calculate tax or TDS and does not retrieve current bank rates. Review applicable documents and qualified guidance separately rather than treating the maturity estimate as tax guidance or a current product quotation.
It also returns summary totals rather than an installment schedule, so it should not be presented as a bank account statement or contractual maturity record.
