A Step-up SIP raises the monthly contribution on an annual schedule
The ArthaSiddhi Step-up SIP Calculator starts with a monthly contribution, increases it after each completed 12-month block by the entered step-up percentage, and projects the result at one entered annual return.
Use the Step-up SIP Calculator to see how changing the contribution schedule changes the projection.
The projection uses four assumptions
Contributions are modeled at the beginning of each month. The annual step-up changes the contribution only after the prior 12-month block has completed.
- Starting monthly investment
- Annual step-up percentage
- Entered annual return assumption
- Whole-year investment duration
Engine-derived example: ₹5,000 starting contribution, 10% annual step-up and 12% entered return
For 10 years, the engine produces total invested capital of ₹9,56,245.48, projected growth of ₹7,30,917.66, and a projected future value of ₹16,87,163.13. The final modeled monthly contribution is ₹11,789.74.
| Total invested | Projected growth | Projected future value | Final monthly contribution |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹9,56,245.48 | ₹7,30,917.66 | ₹16,87,163.13 | ₹11,789.74 |
More projected value can reflect more contributed capital as well as growth
A Step-up SIP changes the amount invested over time. A higher projected value therefore cannot be attributed only to superior investment performance: part of the difference may come from the additional contributions themselves.
For the exact monthly sequence, read How Step-up SIP Is Calculated. The existing Fixed SIP vs Step-up SIP article remains the comparison guide.
This is a projection, not a promise about future value
The calculator holds the entered return constant, uses its beginning-of-month contribution convention and applies a fixed annual step-up schedule. Actual returns, contribution dates and investor decisions can differ.
Review those assumptions in Step-up SIP Projection Assumptions.
Frequently asked questions
Does a Step-up SIP increase the return rate each year?
No. The calculator increases the contribution by the entered annual step-up percentage. The entered annual return remains the projection assumption throughout.
Does a higher projected value mean better investment performance?
Not necessarily. A Step-up SIP also contributes more capital over time, so the result reflects both contributions and modeled growth.
Are Step-up SIP projections guaranteed?
No. The result is an assumption-based projection and is not a guaranteed future value or return.
